eternal functional subordination” (EFS) 영원한 기능적 종속주의, 현재 삼위일체 논쟁의 한 요소입니다. In recent years a debate has emerged among conservative evangelicals over the “eternal functional subordination” (EFS) of the Son.

매튜 바렛의 <정통삼위일체>(생명의말씀사, 2023)에서 이러한 문제점을 지적하고 있습니다. Wayne Grudem은 이 교리가 Carl F. H. Henry, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Riley, Charles Hodge 등을 포함하여 지난 몇 세기 동안 많은 신학자들에 의해 확인되었다고 주장했습니다.  Wayne Grudem argued that the doctrine has been affirmed by many theologians within the last few centuries, including Carl F. H. Henry, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Ryrie, Charles Hodge and others. However, his interpretation of some of these theologians has been challenged. The doctrine of eternal functional subordination has been criticized by theologians such as Glenn Butner, Matthew Barrett, R. Scott Clark and Kevin Giles (위키페디아)

One of these theologians is Augustine of Hippo (354–430). Consider the contrasting interpretations of the Father/Son relationship in Augustine’s trinitarian theology that are offered by Bruce Ware (who affirms EFS) and Kevin Giles (who denies EFS):

어거스틴이 아버지께 영원에서 종속되었다는 견해가 아닙니다. 존 페인버그(John Feinberg), 브루스 웨어(Bruce Ware), 로버트 레이몬드(Robert Reymond), 윌리엄 레인 크레이그(William Lane Craig), J. P. 모어랜드(J. P. Moreland)를 비롯해 복음주의 신학자들과 철학자들은 매튜 바렛의 책을 높이 추천했습니다. 

종속주의(Subordinationism)는 성부 하나님께 성자 하나님이 종속된다는 이론으로 4세기 아리우스(Arius 256~336)가 구체적으로 실현시켰습니다.
